Visit the site of the former Maine State Maximum Security Correctional Facility, opened in 1855. Nicknamed "Death's Door" in days past, when the State and Federal governments executed heinous criminals there, the jail had a sinister reputation. Today, the prison stands in ruin, and is nearly forgotten by most, and fewer visitors than ever make their way there. However, those that do never forget the experience.
